Gator Glance

Gator Glance
By: Danny Goldberg

During our Everglades Reach in-house field trip, we were to explore different centers. One of the centers we explored was called Gator Glance. In this center we learned alot about alligators. Did you know that alligators were born with teeth? That's a lot of teeth to fit in a little mouth. We also measured the skull of an alligator. The way that you do that is to measure from the bridge of the eyes to the tip of the nose. To measure the entire alligator, you just convert the inches into feet and that information tells you the length of the gator. The gator we measured was about 11 feet. The part I enjoyed the most was putting together the plastron of the turtle. The plastron is the bottom of the turtle's shell. It was like a puzzle. We learned alot about how to conserve the Everglades on this field trip.
