Photographs of Claude C. Matlack (Historical Museum)

Commercial photographer Claude Matlack worked in Miami and Miami Beach between 1918
and 1942. He was especially busy during the "Roaring Twenties," when he photographed
everything and everyone from flappers to tin can tourists.

The Claude Matlack Collection contains photographs primarily of places and people in Miami Beach, Miami, Florida Keys, Tamiami Trail, and the Everglades area. His subjects included buildings of various types, Seminole Indians, people at beaches, recreational boats and boating, dredging, and construction.

Description prepared by Becky Smith, Historical Museum of Southern Florida
